April Write Away

This month I will be talking about the many ways I market my books. As I get nearer to the release date for a book, I begin posting on Facebook little excerpts from the book, photos that I use for inspiration, I have a board on Pinterest you can look at for each book, something about the characters or setting, and eventually a cover reveal. For the book, “We Meet Again”, which is the sequel to my first novel, “Justice For Lindsey”, I developed my first video to give readers a look inside the book just prior to the release. Click on the > below to begin the video.

I usually release both the paperback and e-book on the same day so the day my book is available on Amazon, I post the link to the book on all three of my Facebook pages as well as Twitter. This is my way of letting the public know the book is now live.

Social Media is an excellent and free way to let others know the book is available. I start with Facebook, of which I have three different pages. The first is my personal page-Christina Champion Siwik. I let all my close friends and family know that a new book has been released. The next Facebook page I post on is my author page-Christina Siwik Author. I currently have 286 followers. Finally, I post the release of a new book on my blog Facebook page-The Write Way with Chris-Christina Siwik. I have 287 followers on that page. I post a direct link to Amazon on all three pages. For those readers who follow my author page on Amazon, they automatically receive an email announcing the release of the new book. If you have not already done so, you can go to my Amazon author page-https://www.amazon.com/author/christinasiwik-and sign up.

Another marketing tool I use is one offered by Amazon through my Kindle Direct Publishing site. Through Amazon I run ads, discount the e-book and often offer e-books for free, all in an attempt to increase my readership. I also use both Twitter and Instagram to advertise, whether it is a new release, an e-book sale, or an offer of a free e-book. To date, I have given away over 700 e-books. I will be offering a free e-book for my latest novel, “The Truth About Lara” & “Secret of Briarwood” in the near future.

One of my favorite methods I use to let the public know about the books, is to have free giveaways of signed paperbacks. These giveaways are advertised on all three of my Facebook pages. Sometimes the giveaway is for an individual book and other times it may be for a book and the sequel. I have given away packages that include a signed paperback along with a variety of other treats. I use my three Facebook pages as well as Twitter to announce these giveaways. The winner is determined through a random drawing and then notified via Messenger.

The first series I wrote is the “Sophie London-Evin Foster Mysteries”. This series consists of six rather long novellas in three separate volumes. Every now and then, I run the video on my three Facebook pages as well as Twitter and Instagram, explaining this mystery series. Below is the video.

I am currently working on writing a new series titled “A Touch of Home” Mysteries, and I hope to have the first book ready for publication in June. The video below is a pre-publication marketing tool I am using for the first time as it will be almost two months before the release of the first book in the series. Since I already have five other published books, this video’s main targeted audience is my current readership.

The marketing of my books is an ongoing process, and I am constantly trying to come up with new and innovative ideas to let the public know about my books. I have some fun and exciting giveaways planned for my upcoming series so check one of my Facebook pages along about October and find out what I have planned.

If you haven’t read any of my published books, they are all available in both e-book and paperback form on Amazon. If you subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, you can read them for free. All of the books are listed in the right-hand column of this page.

Until next time…keep reading.
